Cape Town’s Startup Superheros
Cape Town’s startup community’s focus is on identifying opportunities than address local needs. Mintor is a prime example, an online platform for Cape Town’s young, job-seeking community. Addressing the issue of 52% unemployment among 15 – 24 years olds, Mintor aims to connect school leavers with small businesses. Solving another common problem is Yoco, a card-payment solution to provide a portable payment system to small business owners. At the forefront of Cape Town’s startup ecosystem is the Silicon Cape Initiative – a non-profit community designed to help build better startups and improve access to funding.
